Fishbone Alley “Urban Living Room” A Community Project
A living alley is a narrow, pedestrian-oriented street that is designed to focus on livability, instead of parking and traffic. And it’s so much more!
Fishbone Alley is located between 26th & 26th Avenues, and 13th & 14th Streets, in the heart of historic downtown Gulfport. It’s a funky little destination that backs up to a number of restaurants and bars located around the alley.
Fishbone Alley, originally a utility alley used for trash and maintenance, was conceived to be, not only a destination for visitors, but a heartbeat in the middle of downtown Gulfport, drawing the community to all of the public spaces located in and around downtown.
Since it’s inception it has grown into a place for gathering, murals and events!
Our History
Historic buildings located throughout downtown Gulfport are beautiful historic buildings that have been revitalized. Shown below are the U.S. Post Office (formerly the Federal Building), Carnegie Library (which now houses the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Art) and the Hatten Building (formerly the Union Bus Station).
